Apples Exploits Iphone Users…Again

If The Rolling Stones came out with an album for $60, some people would buy it. It probably wouldn’t go platinum but it would sell. In fact, there would probably be a few people who would buy the album just to see why it’s $60. There is some kind of psychological flaw in humans that just automatically assumes something is worth more because it costs more.

Well, imagine the Rolling Stones changed their name to Guns N Roses and Axl Rose decides that after he has exploited his MEGA DEDICATED fans for $60, he wants to go ahead and drop the price down to $15 to go ahead and sell a few million records to the kind of fan that would buy a Rolling Stones / Guns N Roses album.

Of course, what I’m describing is a sickening exploitation of the MEGA DEDICATED fans. If any corporation (but Apple) tried this, the media and the liberals would completely trash the CEO for being the greedy corporate scum that he is. I’m not exactly swinging too far to the left most of the time, but I’d have to agree. They are clearly exploiting their MEGA DEDICATED fans in an effort to make more cash.

Supply and Demand?
The capitalist in me sees this as a simple issue of supply and demand. When the demand is higher than the supply, the price goes up. We learned that in junior high. Of course, I said the same thing on September 11, 2001 when thousands of people lined up at the gas pumps. The gas stations raised their prices accordingly. Of course, the liberal side screamed “PRICE GOUGING!”. I never really saw it that way, but whatever.

So, the only corporate dude on the planet who can get away with bending over his MEGA DEDICATED fans in prison style naughtiness, Steve Jobs, is doing just that. Steve Jobs has an incredible image. He’s a voice of reason in a sickening corporate setting. He doesn’t think like all those rich republicans fatcats. He cares about the environment. He’s one of “us”.

Iphone Owners, You Were Tricked!
Well guess what Iphone owners! Steve Jobs put a hard one in you when he tricked you into thinking you NEEDED a $600 cell phone. Don’t feel bad. I realize it was part of your “duty” to the environment or free thinking. If you didn’t buy a $600 Iphone, you weren’t doing your part for making America a better place or whatever it is the Macintosh-type people are trying to do. The Iphone was a trap to anyone with the means to buy one and the need to support a good cause.

Well people. I hate to break it to you, but Steve Jobs is just as much of an asshole as any other Corporationey CEO. Apple is no better than Exxon. And the fact that Apple planned to intentionally charge more money to it’s dedicated fan base for no reason other than profit illustrates that Apple is no better than any other corporation. They are not a “cause”. Do not donate to them!

In an effort of good will, Steve Jobs has decided to give a $100 coupon to anyone who actually paid $600 for a cell phone. That was awfully nice of him. He already jacked up the price of a product that you were convinced you “needed” (although you and I both know that no one NEEDS a $600 cell phone) Now, he’ll give $100 back to you for buying yet another Apple product. I wonder if it’ll be jacked up by $200 too.

Conclusion
If you consider Apple products to be of value and have a need for what they provide, knock yourself out. However, if you are looking to be part of some kind of group that “thinks different” or is trying “make the world a better place” you may want to check your wallet directly afterwards.
